CHARM IS “IN FASHION”

The Vicenza Fair today saw closure of the international gold jewellery show for May

Closure today (21 May - Ed.) in Vicenza of Charm, the May appointment with the world of Italian and international jewellery, the second on the Vicenza Fair calendar.
Charm showcased the most beautiful collections of 1449 gold jewellery producers, from Italy and 28 foreign countries.

16,486 visitors attended the show, up by 38% on last year’s edition.
105 foreign countries were represented, with first places going to operators from Hong Kong (+62%), Israel (+50%), Arab Emirates (+38%), United States (+36%), Germany (+33%), France (+27%), and Great Britain (+24%).
9284 of the total operators were Italian (an increase of 43.92% on the 2007 edition) and 7202 were foreign (+31.78%).

Dino Menarin observes: “Attendance figures for Charm confirm positive feedback from operators regarding the show’s new content. Despite the winds of crisis blowing throughout the sector, linking the jewel to the world of fashion has proved to be a winning choice and has brought new life to this May appointment".
The “new content” is Glamroom, the exhibition area that experimented this graft with the fashion system. A preview for fine-tuning and better calibration of a total-contamination project where the jewel is back in the centre of attention for the most evolved of consumers.
Menarin continues: “We are sending out a very clear message with Charm and its Glamroom where the jewel becomes a fashion factor: value is the new benchmark for companies that want to be competitive and at the same time guarantee adequate return on their capital”.

Even the new general director Domenico Girardi reiterated how the commitment of the Fair to bring to Vicenza a growing number of qualified Italian and international buyers through new, attractive exhibition formats is the right direction for further strengthening of the Vicenza Fair brand: “I believe that in order to maintain our position (the Vicenza Fair is in fact fourth in the world after Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Basel) and to achieve our objectives of improvement, we must become sellers of services and strong exhibition ideas, not just of space. We are committed to enhancing the Vicenza Fair brand with events where the growing qualification of operators becomes a plus factor".

Accredited buyers at the Fair included important newcomers. From malls of the calibre of McArthur Glen to top concept stores like Luisa Via Roma and international department stores and selected shops. The Glamroom hosted labels and designers from the world of fashion and artistic jewellery, including Massimo Crivelli, Sharra Pagano, Bochic and Ugo Cacciatori, to name just a few.
