THE EMOTION OF A JEWEL THE MAIN PROTAGONIST OF VICENZAORO WINTER

The curtain rose today (Saturday, 14th January) on VICENZAORO Winter, Fiera di Vicenza’s international gold, jewellery, watch, silverware and gem exhibition. The event is the first in the world calendar of gold fairs, the first chance to test the pulse of the sector and to photograph the latest trends and products. From now until Thursday 19th January, this ‘business hub’ will be hosting 1400 exhibitors from over 30 different countries who will be meeting the retailers and numerous delegations of foreign buyers who have come to Vicenza for the occasion.
The opening of the Exhibition was entrusted to an extremely striking and inspirational show called ‘Ordinary is over, ordinary is back’, the concept which is also the guiding theme of a manifestation that invites companies to leave the repetitive ordinariness of old habits behind by re-inventing and following in the wake of great and traditional craftsmanship. The talk show – opened with a greeting from Roberto Ditri, President of Fiera di Vicenza, who spoke of a strong call for the values of creativity and innovation, included comments on the new jewellery horizons from Diamante d’Alessio, Editor in Chief of Io Donna, Maria Luisa Frisa, Fashion Curator and expert in fashion and costumes at Iuav Fashion in Venice, Judith Clark, Senior Research Fellow of the London College of Fashion, Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Jewellery Design at Milan Polytechnic and Augusto Ungarelli, President of the Goldsmiths’ Club.

Trend Vision Jewellery + Forecasting, the first permanent Research Centre into jewellery trends also made its official debut at VICENZAORO Winter. It will specialise in deciphering consumer behaviour and identifying the tendencies in the world of jewellery, watches and high range accessories. A seminar provided each buyer with a preview of the coming international scenes, environments and best sellers. The project, which will be operative from May 2012, will be officially launched tomorrow at 5.30 pm in the Trend Vision Gallery in Pavilion F.

One of the main events not to be missed on the second day is the eighth edition of the Jewellery Technology Forum with the technical seminar entitled “Technology and innovation in the world of gold” scheduled to take place at 10.30 as part of the T-Gold project, in the international hall dedicated to machinery and equipment.
While at 3.30 pm, a round table organised by the Istituto Gemmologico Italiano with the Collegio Italiano Gemmologi and other national category associations will be discussing the new bill approved by the Chamber of Deputies and analysing the future prospects for the jewel and precious stone sector.
