Tomorrow, Saturday 19th May 2012, the spotlights will be shining on VICENZAORO Spring 2012, the International Gold, Jewellery, Silverware and Watch Exhibition to be held in Fiera di Vicenza until 23rd May. With over 1,300 exhibitors from the main Italian gold districts and more than 30 foreign countries, and buyers from over 70 countries worldwide, the spring edition of Fiera di Vicenza’s gold show opens this year with an event within an event. The elite of international jewellery will be awarded during the course of the official opening in Sala Palladio as of 12 noon. An exhibition that will become the setting for the prize-giving of a prestigious recognition, the ‘Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards 2012’ for the very best of international jewellery in its various categories of design, production, distribution, retail and advertising. Fiera di Vicenza has, in fact, created a “Jewellery Oscar” which represents an important event for those who believe in quality and culture. It also confirms Vicenza’s central role as the world capital of jewellery and Fiera di Vicenza as a launching pad for know-how and innovation in the gold business. A distinguished international Jury presided over by Maestro Gianmaria Buccellati and made up of some well-known members of the jewellery and design world, selected the finalists of the 6 different categories who are destined to go down in jewellery history: best Italian and international designer, best Italian and international brand collection, best flagship store, best communication campaign. The Jury included Silvana Annichiarico, Director of the Triennale Design Museum, Andrea Branzi, Architect and Designer, Alba Cappellieri, Professor of Jewellery Design at Milan Polytechnic, Franco Cologni, Director of the Compagnie Financière Richemont International SA and Beatrice Salmon, Director of the Musée des Arts Decoratifs, Paris. The event will be directed by Gabriele Vacis, a leading Italian film director, and presented by the famous television journalist, Ilaria D’Amico. Fiera di Vicenza has suggested a slight modification to the recent catch-phrase “Think globally, act locally” for this edition of VICENZAORO Spring 2012, in line with the more advanced experiences of society and consumption, by declaring Local is Global as its theme. This edition will therefore be paying homage to specific identities, places, persons and products with a strong personality and precise origin, in other words, to the genius loci. In our globalised economy, promoting one’s own identity and roots is becoming more and more important. Italian-made jewellery is therefore called upon to take its contents and products into the world, to promote the uniqueness of its Italian heritage, and to turn it into a truly distinctive and competitive element. Among the most long awaited events at VICENZAORO Spring is the prize-giving ceremony for the “Next Jeneration – Jewellery Talent Contest 2012” international competition for young under-30 designers (today, 18th May at 6 pm) organised in collaboration with Confartigianato and CNA Vicenza. www.vicenzafiera.it Info _______________________________________________________ Press Release 18th May 2012 |
